How respite care works

By spending time with the service user and their family in their home setting, we prioritise their Comfort and familiarity. This approach allows us to observe and learn their day-to-day routines, ensuring that our care is seamlessly integrated into their lives.

Our respite care is a collaborative effort. We work with the Client and their family to create a care plan that reflects their preferences and typical routines, ensuring that our services closely match their usual care and support.

We also arrange, in advance, what level of communication the Client’s family would like during our time with them. This can include regular phone calls, video conferences, or written updates. This is to ensure that they are kept well-informed and reassured. Our respite care services should always allow friends and family to relax, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

Dementia Care

Dementia care is the specialised support and assistance provided to individuals affected by dementia. Dementia is a general term that encompasses a range of cognitive disorders characterised by memory loss, impaired reasoning, personality changes, and a decline in the ability to perform daily activities. It's important to be aware that while Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, there are several other types, each with its unique characteristics and challenges.

Dementia care involves creating a safe and supportive environment that caters to the specific needs of those affected. This includes personalised care plans that address the physical, emotional, and cognitive aspects of dementia. Care workers are trained to manage behavioral changes, provide engaging activities that stimulate the mind, and offer emotional support to both the individuals and their families. Additionally, dementia care often involves coordinating with healthcare professionals to manage medical needs and ensure a holistic approach to care. By focusing on maintaining dignity and enhancing the quality of life, dementia care aims to provide comfort and stability in the face of this challenging condition.

How do we provide dementia care?

We provide compassion, empathy and a high level of expertise in memory care. We understand the importance of providing treatment that focuses on the whole client through detection, continuous assessment and a high level of support that preserves a Client’s lifestyle and daily routine.

Companionship Care

Many people we support want company and conversation, whether they live alone and cannot see their family and friends as often as they would like or if they are recently bereaved and are finding it hard to adjust. Loneliness can seriously affect a person's health, and Franchesca Care aims to prevent loneliness through companionship care.

Companionship care goes beyond merely providing company; it plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall well-being of individuals, particularly older people. Regular social interaction through companionship care can significantly improve mental health by reducing feelings of depression and anxiety. Engaging in conversations, shared activities, and simply spending time together can stimulate cognitive functions and keep the mind active.

Physically, having a companion can encourage individuals to stay active through gentle exercises, walks, or participating in hobbies and interests. Physical activity can improve overall health, mobility, and robust immune systems. Additionally, companions can assist with daily tasks, ensuring the person is safe and well-cared for.

In summary, companionship care is a multifaceted approach that addresses individuals' mental, physical, and emotional needs, promoting a higher quality of life and preventing the adverse effects of loneliness and isolation.
